Brown Pelican

Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis)

• Live along coastal waters of the Americas
• Weigh between 6 and 12 pounds (2.7 - 5.4 kg)
• Wingspan of 6 to 8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 m)
• While flying, they scoop up fish from water with large bill
• Bill pouch holds up to 10 liters of water which drains before swallowing fish
• Incubate eggs by standing on them
