Somali Wild Ass (Equus africanus somaliensis)
- Smallest of the wild equids (horses, zebras and asses)
- Average 4 feet (1.2 meters) high and weigh about 600 pounds (272 kg)
- Live in desert areas in Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea
- Legs have horizontal black stripes
- Eat grasses and shrubs
- Critically endangered

Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus)
- Also known as "spiny anteater"
- Not actually related to anteater species, but does eat ants and termites
- Approximately 1 to 1 1/2 feet (30-45 cm) in length
- Along with the platypus, echidnas are the only egg-laying mammals
- Native to New Guinea and Australia

- Desert antelope that lives in the Sahara Desert
- Also known as "screwhorn" antelope
- Approximately 3 feet tall (1 meter) at the shoulders
- Greyish brown in winter; in summer its coat turns white
- Critically endangered- less than 300 left in the wild

- Large stick insect native to Australia
- Females average 6 inches (15 cm) have short spines and small wings
- Males average 4 inches (10 cm), only have spines on head and have long wings
- Diet includes eucalyptus and blackberry leaves
- Blend into foliage by swaying back and forth
